About the Item
An elegant and rare Swedish modernist table lamp, model 5014, produced by Einar Bäckströms Metallvarufabrik in the 1930s. This refined piece features a gently flared, disc-shaped shade in petroleum green lacquer, offering a subtle yet striking presence. The solid brass stem, partially wrapped in spiral-twined brown leather, adds warmth and texture, beautifully contrasting the cool tones of the shade. The lamp rests on a weighted brass base, ensuring stability and balance in its form. Fitted with a standard E27 socket beneath the shade and an integrated switch on the base, the lamp combines functionality with timeless Scandinavian craftsmanship. The Swedish manufacturer Einar Bäckströms Metallvarufabrik was founded in the town of Malmö in 1918 and soon became a major producer of electric lighting fixtures. The company was founded by brothers Einar and Sune Bäckström, both trained chasers. In the 1930s, Einar Bäckström became an official producer of Otto Müller’s Sistrah fixture. Like most Swedish lighting manufacturers, Einar Bäckström was dissolved in the 1970s.
