Flu table lamp designed by Giuliana Gramigna for Quattrifolio, Italy 1970s

About the Item

Flu table lamp designed by Giuliana Gramigna for Quattrifolio, Italy, in the 1970s. The Flu lamp, designed by Giuliana Gramigna in 1979, was nominated for the Compasso d'Oro prize selection in the same year. Equipped with two lightbulbs (an E27 and an E14 bulb), it offers the flexibility to illuminate one or both bulbs. The minimal design is impeccably crafted, characterized by its refined attention to detail, notably seen in how the shade seamlessly fits into the base, creating an elegant fusion of two circular shapes. Giuliana Gramigna (1929-2016) was a designer and design writer whose career coincided with the era when Italian design held significant sway globally. Based in Milan from the 1960s, she engaged in civil and industrial architecture, as well as the design of objects and furniture. Leveraging her extensive network, she played a pivotal role in documenting the industry as an editor for Ottagono and Area magazines. Gramigna is renowned for her authoritative work on post-war Italian design, and is famous for her post-War Italian design bible, Repertorio. References: Repertorio 1950 - 1980, G. Gramigna
