About the Item
A elegant and high quality French 19th century Charles X Period Ormolu, Tole and Crystal bouillotte lamp. The charming lamp, with an adjustable shape, is raised by a circular pierced base with a bottom snakeskin designed band and top fish scale motif. The palmette shaped pierced outer rim surrounds an inner richly chased scrolled foliate design. The central fut with an acanthus leaf decor supports the cut Crystal center with a reeded and diamond shaped motif. Above are the three scrolled arms with rosettes and foliate sprays leading to the Ormolu saucer and electrified candle cup. At the top is the central square Ormolu stem which supports the adjustable Tole shade. The hand painted shade has designs of foliate scrolls and palmettes.
