About the Item

Sabino Paris, art deco lamp circa 1930. Large Casacade model. Wrought iron foot, representing an waterfall and molded glass representing an waterfall as well. Signed inside Sabino, mold number 4645. In perfect condition and electrified. Base diameter: 14.5 cm Total height: 61 cm Weight: 6KG Marius Ernest Sabino (1878-1961) was born in 1878 in Italy. He was a Parisian of Italian origin who attended the National School of Decorative Arts and the Beaux Arts in Paris. He won numerous awards in Europe for his art and was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur for his contribution to French art and industry. Sabino experimented with glass and by 1925 he had created his own chemical formula for opalescent glass. The result is that in low light the glass often appears white or bluish like glacier ice, but with brighter or more direct light many pieces take on a subtle golden color. As if by magic. Ernest died in 1961.
