About the Item
French David Gueron Degue´ (1892-1950) Deco Table Lamp, Circa 1930
David Gueron Degue' was a manufacturer of lamps, chandeliers, and glass vases during the Deco period. From 1926 to 1939 he founded and owned the Verrerie d'Art Degué. Throughout this period he remained a point of reference for glass works from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
This Deco' period lamp includes a three-lobed lampshade of clear molded frosted glass with leaf tips carved design. At each recess it is topped with a nickel-plated bronze insert carved in typical Art Deco foliage motifs. The three stems supporting the lampshade are nickel-plated bronze with a carving of flowers and leaves at the bottom also typical of the period. The base supporting the lamp is made of marble.
The table lamp was originally a ceiling Pendant and is mounted on a 3.25 inches high stable round marble base. It can be restored back to its original state by detaching the marble base without damaging the Pendant itself. We purchased it with the marble base in place.
Although the Pendant has been attached in the past to a marble base it is still in original perfect condition with all the bronze nickel plated inserts in place and the frosted glass lampshade intact.
Measurements including the marble base are : H 27.75 inches x W 20 inches
