About the Item

A rare and playful design by Elvio Becheroni from the early 1970s, the table lamp reflects a moment when Italian lighting moved boldly into sculptural territory. Referenced in Luce Lampade 1968–1973: Il Nuovo Design Italiano by Fulvio and Napoleone Ferrari (Allemandi, 2002, Tav. 168), this lamp is part of a short-lived but inventive wave in Italian postmodern design. Design The lamp combines three key materials: chrome-plated steel, opaline glass, and curved opal methacrylate. A chrome cylindrical base anchors the composition, supporting a gently domed opaline glass diffuser. Surrounding the core, a white methacrylate shade curves outward in rhythmic waves, giving the lamp its nickname “Fru-Fru” – a nod to the soft, layered effect of a ruffled skirt. The light source remains subtly shielded, casting a warm, diffused glow that enhances the sculptural profile. The design captures a spirit of experimentation typical of the period. Becheroni, known for his work across art and design, here finds a point of balance between form, function, and light. Materials are handled with precision but without rigidity. Condition Condition is very good. The lamp works with two seperate light options. Surfaces show light signs of age consistent with the material and period. The chrome has slight oxidation on the inner parts, and the methacrylate shade is free from deformation or yellowing. The lamp has been tested and functions properly.

20th Century Roberto Pamio Table Lamp mod. Gill 45 for Leucos, 60s
By Leucos, Roberto Pamio
Located in Turin, Turin
Roberto Pamio works intensively in the design world internationally. With the Pamio Architectural Studio and Pamio Design in Scorzè (VE), he ranges from architectural design, interior design and layout, industrial design and image architecture. In all his architecture, natural elements such as light, air and water are emphasized, making space fluid and changeable. His creative sensibility led him to approach industrial design at a very young age, developing his own personal interpretation that has found full expression in lighting and interior design. The knowledge of the material and the careful attention to detail that distinguishes his design objects has also been reflected in the realization of architectural projects, for a perfect fusion and synergy between space and furnishing needs. Here we have a table lamp model Gill 45...
