About the Item

A ceramic table lamp featuring a rich brown and beige glaze adorned with floral motifs. It is elegantly topped with a contemporary lampshade and bears the signature of André l’Helguen beneath the base. Dimensions with the shade: ø40 H105cm André L'Helguen (1935–2017) André L'Helguen (1935–2017) was a distinguished French ceramist, best known for his work at the Keraluc pottery workshop in Quimper, Brittany. Born in Landudec, he studied under esteemed instructors at the École des Beaux-Arts in Quimper before joining Keraluc, where he spent his entire career refining his craft. Founded in 1946 by Victor Lucas, Keraluc ceramics became a leading force in the evolution of Quimper faience. Moving away from traditional folkloric motifs, the workshop embraced modern, artistic designs and attracted many talented artists, including L'Helguen, Pierre Toulhoat, and Jos Le Corre, each contributing their unique vision to its production. L'Helguen developed a distinctive style, marked by intricate decorative motifs and elegant forms. His creations include ceramic pitchers, lamps, and other functional pieces, and are celebrated for their artistic value and are highly sought after by collectors of mid-century ceramics.
