Heifetz Style Sculpted Organic Form Ebonized Ash Table Lamp on Brass Legs
About the Item
A long time favorite lamp recently out of storage and restored. Ash wood is ebonized and sculpted into bio morphic form mounted on brass legs with acrylic ball feet. Overall height to top of finial is 32". Lamp body is 2" deep, arced brass legs are 7" deep. Height to top of socket is 22".

Incredible condition for work created in the 1950's. Yasha Heifetz began Heifetz Lighitng Company in 1938. He rose to fame in 1950 when he co-sponsored and was an esteemed judge, alongside Marcel Breur and 2 directors of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of NYC in a lighting design competition for MoMA itself. Their search was in response to a quest by both Heifetz and Breuer to find a well designed modern lamp. Both claimed at the time that all available options felt "flat and static" as most lamps design ethos felt more attention on the lamp rather than the lighting it emit.
