Hettier-Vincent French Art Deco Night / Table Lamp, 1929
About the Item
French Art Deco night / table lamp by HETTIER-VINCENT, 10 rue de Turenne in Paris, France, ca.1929. Glass and bronze. Model listed in the Hettier-Vincent period catalogue and dated precisely from the year 1929. This shade named "Hydrangeas" was exclusively created by Muller Freres in Luneville near Nancy for Hettier-Vincent. Enameled with red and yellow. Nickel plated bronze base and top by Hettier-Vincent. The lyre that holds the top inside of the shade is also original. Height : 7.5" (19cm), Diameter : 5.1"(13cm). Signed twice on the shade "Muller Fres" and "HV". A pinhead above the Muller Freres signature. Good condition. Delivered wired for your country (US, UK, EU, etc). LED can be used.
Their bases and fixtures were made of bronze or wrought iron. The shades were made by the greatest French glassworks in this period. The molded glass shades the most often from Holophane (Les Andelys) that produced its own art glass pieces under the Verlys and Des Hanots signatures. The mottled and acid-etched glass shades were the most often made by Muller Freres and the crystal shades by the Cristalleries de Baccarat.
Hettier-Vincent was the top end of the market offering their lamps to the Parisian upper-class.
In 1929, they opened a prestigious shop on the famous Place des Vosges in the heart of the capital.
Hettier-Vincent is a company created in 1920s. Its headquarter was located 10 rue de Turenne in Paris.
The company designed their own lighting for each new season and ordered their glasses at one of the large glass factories of the era, most likely at Holophane the mother company of Verlys and Hanots. The bronze or iron hardware of H&V is never signed.
