Iconic Laurel Walnut & Brass Mid Century Modern Table Lamp Richard Barr Thurston

Magnificent! Brass & Walnut Mid Century Modern Table Lamp By Laurel Lamp Company Circa 1957 Attributed to Designer Richard Barr Wow! This is an incredible example of the iconic Mid century Walnut & Brass table lamp with a tulip inspired sculptured metal base! In the fifties, fierce competition existed as lamp makers hired designers who could create new and compelling lamp designs for a modern-design hungry market! This lamp competed with lamps from Stiffel, Lightolier, Marbro, Westwood Industries and other top names of this period. This design followed a string of similar walnut and brass Danish Modern table lamps designed by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier around 1953. It is now coveted for its transitional ingredients and style that took it from the minimalist aesthetic of the early fifties to the more luxurious and decadent modernist styles of the late fifties and early sixties. It's considered by many to be the mid century table lamp with the "perfect" balance of rich simplicity! In fine vintage condition. Light surface tarnish to metal finishes and age appropriate wear throughout. Presents beautifully! A stunning addition to the magnificent interior decor of your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic ranch or West Palm Beach estate!
