Industrial lamp Triplex Lillpendel by Johan Petter Johansson, Sweden, 1940s
About the Item
A table or wall lamp model Triplex Lillpendel type TP, developed by the Swedish inventor Johan Petter Johansson. Constructed from steel and aluminum, painted deep red with chrome details. This smaller model of the Triplex lamp was designed to be suitable for spaces where the ordinary-sized Triplex was too large. Despite its compact size, it features the same quality and functionality that made the Triplex famous. Length of the arm 95 cm, diameter shade 17 cm.
The first Triplex lamp was designed by the Swedish inventor Johan Petter “JP” Johansson back in 1919. At the time, he had already invented the modern adjustable wrench and pipe wrench and was an established industrialist. The Triplex got a lot of attention since, at the time, most working lamps were nothing but a lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. Over the following decades, Triplex lamps were used in workshops, factories, hospitals, and other similar facilities all around the country.
