Kurt Versen Gooseneck Table Desk Lamp! Mid Century Modern Red 1950s Atomic Decor

About the Item

KURT VERSEN GOOSE NECK DESK LAMP! ICONIC! MID CENTURY DESIGN AT ITS FINEST! GORGEOUS RED ENAMEL! VERY HARD TO FIND! In the postwar period, A house was not a "modern home" without at least one flexible neck lamp somewhere! Kurt Versen, who specialized in super durable, ergonomic lighting provided this design entry into the modern lighting marketplace and it quickly set the the standard by which all other "goose" neck lamps were judged! This goose neck design places plentiful light where desired. A switch on the base turns the lamp on or off. Now these lamps are the most sought after early mid century lighting by decorators for knowledgeable collector/purists who wont settle for anything less! Kurt Versen's lamps were selected by MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) as one of the "Useful Objects of Fine Design" in both 1940 and 1947. In 1933 at the Century of Progress Exhibition Versen's modern lighting also won an award. His contemporary lamps were some of the most honored of all lamps! Excellent vintage condition. Some minor scratches, dings and typical age wear throughout. Presents beautifully! This lamp is sensational and would look superb in your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic ranch or West Palm Beach estate!
