About the Item
This artisan table lamp light sculpture Labyrinth, designed by Jakob Uhlin for By Republiken. Crafted from recycled plastic, this sculpture features triangular components that create a captivating, faceted appearance. The eleven identical protruding openings are arranged organically, giving the lamp a dynamic, non-symmetric silhouette that changes from every angle. The semi-transparent plastic diffuses light uniquely, offering a mesmerizing illumination experience. Labyrinth, the name of the light sculpture, reflects the way light finds its path out of the design. This variant of the Labyrinth light sculpture features a unique integrated lamp fixture made from recycled and remelted plastics.
This is a table lamp. But it can also be used as a wall lamp or a pendant lamp. Tell us the main purpose, and we will adjust the lamp accordingly. The fixture that holds the lamp socket can also be rebuilt to be integrated, and less visible, as in the last pictures.
HOW WE MAKE THE LAMP SCULPTURES
Our production process involves collecting used household containers made of polypropylene plastics, commonly used for food containers. After thorough washing, a hand-driven punch is employed to meticulously cut out the triangular building pieces from these recycled plastic containers. This sustainable process gives new life to materials that would otherwise be discarded. All of this is made in our design studio

By Republiken operates as a design studio and workshop housed in a weathered old station house, tucked away in the dense forests of Bergslagen, Sweden. Our mission revolves around the mindful utilization of materials, acknowledging their finite nature. Hence, we specialize in creating furniture and art from recycled materials, mainly sourced locally and crafted with artisanal care in our own studio.
By Republiken creates an array of lamp sculptures from recycled plastic, offering ready-made, customized, and bespoke designs. Our clientele includes interior designers, businesses, and private clients. We bring innovative lighting solutions to diverse spaces.
