Bernard Rooke (born 1938) is an iconic British studio potter and artist. In 1960, Rooke set up his first pottery in Forest Hill in South London in a very small room with enough space for a small electric kiln. Here he was mainly using hand building, coiling, blocking and slabbing techniques to create his Brutalist pieces.
Rooke has exhibited his ‘Brutalist’ studio pottery and painting both in the UK and abroad, with work in many public and private collections including the V&A Museum - London, Cleveland Museum of Art - USA, Röhsska Museum - Sweden, and the Trondheim Kunstmuseum in Norway.
