About the Item

Extremely rare 19th century Victorian opaline glass and brass table lamp, of impressive scale - 24.75" / 63cm to the top of the fittings and 32.25" / 82cm as pictured with the shade. English, circa 1840–1860. A highly desirable and sought after model. Why we like it This lamp offers a striking balance of rich textures and subtle elegance without appearing overly ornate. It stands as a rare example of mid-19th century craftsmanship, originally designed as an oil lamp and thoughtfully converted to electricity in the early 20th century. The opaline glass, with its characteristic milky translucence and soft glow, provides a splendid contrast to the solid brass base.
