Large J.A. Coderch 'Junco' Rattan Cane Table Lamp for Tunds.
Pablo Picasso declared one of J.A. Coderch's bentwood designs to be "the most wonderful pendant lamp of the world." Originally conceived as a wall lamp in the 1960s, production of the 'Junco' was originally overseen by Coderch’s own sister. Different sizes of this design found in the basement of their family home suggest the architect had an affinity for this lamp, seeking to incorporate it into different projects. This authorized re-edition has been lovingly brought to life by Tunds, and is handcrafted in Spain using the highest quality materials with respect for the environment.
This clever design casts a warm light and varied shadows reminiscent of Coderch’s iconic 'Disa' and 'Cister' lamps. Intricately placed rattan cane is bent in a way meant to showcase its natural fiber, enticing nature into the home.
José Antonio Coderch (1913-1984) is considered one of the most valued architects in Postwar Spain. Often described as the architect of modernity, his works are still seen as vivid examples of contemporary architecture and his legacy includes hundreds of listed buildings all over Spain.
