About the Item

The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, so here and there it has some scratches, but they are insignificant and difficult to see in everyday use (photos). Entirely made of stainless steel, as if from one piece. On the front, there is a small quartz watch powered by one AA battery (the so-called finger). Frosted glass shade effectively diffuses the light of one bulb with a large thread (E27). The lamp is 100% original, signed on the back (photo). The foot is glued with felt so as not to scratch the surface on which the lamp will stand. Fase was founded by Pedro Martin and designer Luis Pérez de la Oliva in 1964, some sources say 1966. They initially sold self-produced lamps in and around Madrid before opening a factory in Torrejón de Ardoz on the outskirts of the city. They mainly produced lamps, but also ashtrays and other products such as office baskets and clothes hangers. Fase supplied many lamps to the offices of the dictatorial government of General Franco and the Guardia Civil, a kind of military police. From 1975, after Franco's death and the fall of the regime, Fase started anew with designs inspired by Italian Modern and Bauhaus. The Spaniards were unfamiliar with these designs because of Franco's regime, which did not allow much foreign influence. In the 1970s, Fase exported lamps to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Norway, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Hong Kong, Morocco, the United States and Canada. In total, in over 32 countries.
