Mannequin Lamp by Mike Serra

About the Item

Designer, Mike Ruiz Serra was inspired by Giorgio Morandi’s ghostly paintings of mannequin busts while creating this sculptural lamp. Crafted using the ancient technique of sand casting, each lamp is formed in aluminum, giving it a unique, organic quality. The exterior retains the raw, textured surface imparted by the sand casting process, offering a tactile contrast to the interior, which is meticulously mirror-polished to a brilliant, reflective finish. This interplay of roughness and refinement not only enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence but also allows light to interact dynamically with its surfaces, creating a warm and atmospheric glow. Please note: Each piece bears the natural markings of the casting process, including subtle blemishes and pitting—distinctive characteristics that celebrate the authenticity and materiality of the aluminum.
