Marbro Ceramic Flower Motif Monumental Lamp
About the Item
A large box shade announces the drama of this original factory lamp by Marbro. It is a monumental Marbro enamel glazed ceramic lamp from the Los Angeles factory circa the 1960s. The mix of austere color in charcoal and rust imparts an industrial chic to the lamp. The lamp shade is not original.
Of cylindrical section, the Asian style swelled baluster body with tall banded neck and pierced foliate medallions, on a circular lobed foot. With a mottled red/green glaze overall. Marked with factory foil tag. Surmounted by a fabric box shade.
The History:
Marbro manufactured some of the finest lamps during the mid century modern -- Hollywood Regency period. The designs are enduring. Lamps produced by Marbro included Murano glass, hand painted pieces, crystal, hand-carved wood, lamps with marble bases and other finer elements like porcelains from Europe and Japan. The factory closed in 1990.
