The color and condition is wonderful. The design is Marbro Lamp Company of Los Angeles. The color is marbled gold and yellows. The size is monumental.
A 1960s table lamp, following French style. Hand glazed with a speckled lava-like texture full of expressionistic explosions. There is hand etching of flowers on the surface of the lamp. Exquisite.
Mid-century modern French style lamps are lighting fixtures that blend the design aesthetics of the mid-20th century and the French style. They are inspired by the mid-century modern movement, which emerged roughly between the 1930s and 1960s, and the unique design elements found in French lighting designs of that era.
Many mid-century modern French lamps feature slender and tapered legs or stands, which add an elegant and visually appealing touch to the design. Much of the charm in this lamp comes from the spherical shape and the exquisite etching on the face and the reverse of the lamp. A rare surviving example of the Marbro brand. The lamp is marked on the socket.
