Marbro Murano Glass Millefiori Table Lamp, 1950s-1960s, Double Signed

About the Item

Rare vintage table lamp features multicolored millefiori on jewel-like emerald green background color. Bright millefiori inclusions form an abstract graphic pattern on the dark glass, with twisted, elongated millefiori shapes on the neck creating a sense of movement and guiding the eye along the lines of the piece. The lamp is mounted on detailed round brass base; it comes with the original brass top hardware, harp, and finial. The lamp is signed with the Marbro sticker on the socket and with the paper sticker "Made in Italy" - on the glass body near the base. It stands 19.5" tall to the top of the socket, and 29" - to the top of the finial. The lamp is in good vintage condition with beautiful, age-appropriate patina on the glass; please note glassblower tool marks on the glass body - they are very hard to see and better be found by touch, but we tried to show them in the pictures. Such marks are normal for hand-blown glass and emphasize its handmade nature. Marbro Lamp Company operated in Los Angeles, California, from mid-1940s to late 1980s. The company was supplying interior designers, upscale furniture stores, and Hollywood celebrities. Marbro lamps were usually made to order, which made them unique; the company was importing the components that made up the lamp bodies in small quantities, and wood bases and metal parts were made to order per a customer’s specifications by skilled artisans in the workshop. Standard 3-way E-23 socket. Original wiring for US.
