Exceptional “Max Bill” desk lamp designed by Miguel Milá for Polinax, Spain, mid-20th century.
This version stands out for its rare top-mounted shade, a feature typically seen only in Milá’s floor model, giving the lamp a more architectural and balanced presence.
The structure is made of chromed steel and supports a double bicolor injected-methacrylate shade — green exterior with white interior diffuser — producing soft, indirect light both upward and downward.
The lamp retains its original wiring, checked and in working condition. The chrome surface shows a few small flakes and minor losses in the plating, consistent with age and use, without detracting from its overall elegance.
A refined and scarce example of Spanish modernist lighting, showcasing Miguel Milá’s blend of Bauhaus-inspired rigor and Mediterranean warmth.
