About the Item
This midcentury multicolored Murano table lamp is created using the murrine technique. The body of the lamp is speckled with multicolored spots formed by rolling the molten glass in colorful glass pieces before hand-blowing the piece. As the glass form is shaped, the colorful chips stretch and soften in appearance. The base color of the piece is a brilliant red hue that ombres into a softer orange at the bottom. The lamp is further detailed with brass finishings and a square base with inwardly turned feet.
The glass houses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glassworks made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant piece highlights a mastery of such Venetian glass craftsmanship. The warm red and orange hues are mesmerizing, elevating any interior with a statement of color and craft.
