A beautiful mid-century stoneware table lamp with amazing glaze.
Made by Svend Aage Jensen for Søholm Stentøj, Denmark, 1960s.
Great original condition.
Stamped 'Søholm Denmark'.
Sold without lampshade.
Dimensions of the lamp (without the shade):
Height (incl. the socket): 20 cm (7.9 in.)
Diameter: 7 cm (2.8 in.)
Light source: E26/E27 screw bulb.
All original with light switch on the cord in working condition.
SOHØLM STENTØJ (1835-1996)
It was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The Wolffsen family ran the pottery from 1878 into the first decade of the twentieth century and pieces from that period are often marked with the names H Wolffsen or Chr. L Wolffsen. From around 1910 to 1930 management was in the hands of Carl Møller. The use of earthenware was introduced after 1930 as an alternative to stoneware. On very old Søholm pieces (around 1835 to 1878) the name will be marked Söholm.
Noomi Backhausen was a designer for Søholm from 1966 to 1990 and set up her own pottery in Rønne in 1996.
