This table lamp was designed during the mid-20th century, an era in which Finland saw the birth of many of its most iconic lighting models. It was a period of consistency, excellence, and sophistication design-wise. Itsu, short for Itä-Suomen Sähkö (eng. Eastern Finland Electricity), was a small, lesser known manufacturer that produced characteristic models in small quantities, like this "EV75" lamp. There is a saying that “Functionalism is a Finnish thing”, and it is hard to argue with that when looking at this table lamp. The design of this model is first and foremost functional, combining practicality and aesthetics. Functionality is without a doubt one of the most important aspects of Finnish design, however, there is also a demand for the highest quality, both in design and materials. Second to function, the "EV75" lamp’s silhouette gives the design a personality that stands out without being loud, which is also an essentially Finnish design virtue. The lamp is constructed from high-quality brass, a material chosen for both its durability and timeless appeal.
