A Murano Glass caged table lamp circa 1950s, Italy
Exhibiting a compelling display of glassmaking technique, this caged glass lamp features a hand-forged wrought iron frame in a blackened finish. The rigid structure rests atop a layer of smoked glass, which has been mouth-blown directly through the cage — a process that results in softly protruding forms, lending the piece both visual movement and sculptural depth. This expressive interplay between structure and fluidity reflects a technique widely embraced by Venetian glassmakers in the 1950s and 1960s, most notably in the work associated with Seguso.
The lamp stands 36 cm high (measured from the base to the top of the lamp holder) and has a diameter of 19 cm. It is in good vintage condition, with small areas of rust and patination to the ironwork. The glass is in excellent condition with no apparent losses. Wiring appears original and has not been tested; a professional safety inspection is recommended prior to installation.
