About the Item

1960s Nessen Studios tall table lamp designed by Greta Von Nessen, constructed of brass, linen and glass. The body of the lamp is a tall square column with a square base, towards the top end is a rotary switch, a tubular stem and a glass diffuser that the linen shade rests on. Dimensions of the lamp base itself is 8" x 8" x 41.5" to the top of the glass diffuser. This is an all original condition piece and one of the best examples I have seen, not a common occurrence. Nessen Studios was founded by Walter Von Nessen in the late 1920s, he was a innovator during the Machine Age movement of the 1930s with his swing arm lamp design, after his passing in the early 1940s, his wife Greta Von Nessen continued running and being the lead designer of Nessen Studios, both of their work is in the permanent collection of the MoMA, NY.
