Original Marcello Fantoni Studio Table Lamp
About the Item
Original Fantoni Studio Lamp circa 1955 (and not a later conversion). 29.25" x 7.5" wide and 5" deep. Unique pinched oval shaped vessel with not a flat surface to be found depicting 5 women in various forms. Totally flat glaze with no light reflection. Neutral colors, grey, charcoal, black, some yellow. and off-white. Vessel section 14.5": tall. Signed to underside of pottery. Wood base and custom sized brass cap to vessel all produced by Fantoni Studios. Wiring has been updated to replace fabric cord. The Original brass hardware has an adjustable stem that gives a dynamic range of 3 1/2" give or take to allow lamp shades of various sizes. Double socket pull chains. In excellent condition with minor touch ups to black painted wood base. Pottery section has no chips, scratches or cracks, a few scuffs to the ceramic. Lamp Shade not original, please specify if you wish it included prior to shipping.

Marcello Fantoni
Marcello Fantoni was a Florentine artist who specialized in ceramics. He studied at the Art Institute in Florence, where Libero Andreotti and Bruno Innocenti were his sculpting professors and Gianni Vagnetti was his figurative art professor. Fantoni began to work as a ceramist in 1934, opening his factory in 1936. After the Second World War, he became very successful, and his works are held in some of the world's most important museums (from the USA to Japan).
