Pair Danish Modern Ceramic Lamps by I-L Koefoed Royal Copenhagen Fog&Morup 1960s

About the Item

Pair table lamps from the late 1960s or early 1970s. These lamps have been manufactured by Royal Copenhagen and sold by Fog & Mørup, Denmark. Impressive bold graphic design by Inge-Lise Koefoed, featuring a decor in dark blue with greyish / beige elements. The lamps are part of the "Tenera" series which were initially sold under the Aluminia brandname. The brand-name was changed to Royal Copenhagen in 1972. This lamp did exist in different 3 sizes. This is the smallest size. Nils Thorsson became Art Director of Royal Copenhagen in 1958. He introduced several young female artists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden to the company to create a new house-style. The new stoneware and faience series produced during the 60s and 70s became a big success for Royal Copenhagen. Inge-Lise Kofoed was one of these artists, she was educated at the Arts and Crafts School in Copenhagen 1956-1960. The lamps are both marked “Fog & Morup Copenhagen”. One is also marked "A" for Alumini, the other Royal Copenhagen. Thus one is made before 1972, the other after 1972. For type E26/E27 Edison screw-fitting bulbs, new wiring with EU plug. The plug can be replaced by a US plug for free. The lamp works on 110v and 220v. Lampshade diameter: 8.66" (22cm). Total height including lampshade: 19.29" (49 cm). Height of the lamp base including socket: 12.6" (32cm). Diameter of the lamp base: 4.33" (11cm).
