Pair of 18th Century French Carved Wooden Capitals Mounted as Lamps

About the Item

Originally Composite order column capitals, these French architecturals have been repurposed into a pair of desk or table lamps. Wonderfully hand-carved during late 1700s, the wooden capitals feature Neoclassical elements of the Composite order: volutes with egg-and-dart (of the Ionic order) above acanthus leaf caulicoles (Corinthian order). The wood has a light brown hue with traces of white, most likely old gesso from a previous installation. The capitals have been recently mounted to black iron stands and wired them for use in American homes, complete with golden harps and a cream shade, making them perfect desk lamps for an office or table lamps for a living room, hallway, or bedroom.
