Pair of Antique French Pate Sur Pate Celadon Porcelain Lamps
About the Item
A good pair of antique French celadon and pate sur pate two handled bottle shaped vases. Each is finely cast with gilt bronze handles and bases.
The technique of pate sur pate was popular in France and was there associated with the Sevres factory and also with Limoges. In England the Minton factory employed several French decorators. A similar but simplified style was the Italian Bianco sopra Bianco usually found on Majolica. These vases are well modeled, well mounted and painted to a high standard. They should complement most decorative schemes.
