Pair of Art Deco Cast and Cold-Painted Figural Theatrical Pirate Table Lamps
About the Item
This pair of cast spelter lamps are unsigned but believed to have been made in Austria in circa 1920 in the period Art Deco style. Each lamp is ornately cast and cold-painted and depict figural theatrical pirate figures in a bronze toned finish with cold-painted costumes. The lamps may have been made as a tribute to Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Pirates of Penzance'. The lamps are in very good period condition, including the matching frosted glass amber shades. There is a manufacturing flaw in the form of a small casting split on the underside of the male figure which can only be seen if the lamp is turned completely upside down.

One small casting crack noted to the underside of the male figure which is only observable if the lamp is upside down as presented in the photo. Some minor surface wear on both lamps consistent with age and use. Wiring is original and worn.
