About the Item

Charles Lutz 12:28 PM (17 minutes ago) to me This elegant pair of Art Deco style Skyscraper lamps exemplifies the bold geometric forms and architectural glamour that defined the Machine Age aesthetic. Each lamp features a striking vertical composition of stacked cubist blocks resembling a stylized city skyline, resting on a round, tiered black lacquer base. The sculptural “towers” are crafted from wood and finished in silver leaf, creating a luminous contrast against the deep gloss of the lacquered base. Though unmarked and unsigned, the design shows clear inspiration from the work of Donald Deskey and other leading designers of the 1930s who popularized the Skyscraper style in both lighting and furniture. An archival image of a similar lamp is shown for reference. The lamps have been professionally restored and rewired for U.S. standard voltage, with brown fabric cords and protective felted bases. The silver leaf finish has a beautiful, warm, and soft reflective quality, catching and diffusing light with understated elegance. A sophisticated and sculptural addition to any Art Deco, Machine Age, or modern interior, these lamps exemplify timeless design and quality craftsmanship.
