Pair of Charles Hollis Jones Style Table Lamps in Acrylic / Lucite & Gilt Brass

About the Item

We offer for sale a pair of twin table lamps made in Italy between the 70s and 80s made of Acrylic, gilded metal and Brass. The list of "ingredients" of this successful recipe contains the main elements of the super glamorous style of Rome during the 70s of which Romeo Rega and Sandro Petti were some of the main exponents. Acrylic, Lucite and Brass were the main ingredients of another excellent recipe from the other side of the ocean, they characterize the splendid production of household items designed by Charles Hollis Jones for the most beautiful homes in Los Angeles. Although we were unable to obtain a certain attribution of the design of these essential and elegant vintage lamps, it is clear that they are the result of that opulent and luxurious style in vogue in the 70s throughout the West. The two engraved and ground cylindrical bases are surmounted by two thinner disks, one in brass and the other in milky acrylic from which 3 columns in clear acrylic and one in gilded metal depart, which hides the electrical system. On the brass lamp holders are fixed (but obviously removable) two custom made white lampshades on which our trusted professional has applied two strips of polished brass that repeat the decorative theme of the bases. The lamps are working and are in good vintage condition. They don't show obvious signs on the acrylic surface but a pleasant patina of time on the brass on the gilded metal. Reach out with any additional questions.

Italian Post Modern Table Lamp made in Murano Glass in the style of Umberto Riva
By Umberto Riva
Located in Roma, IT
Splendid Postmodern table lamp produced in Italy by the "Punto Luce" company using glass made by Murano glass artisans. This is an "atmosphere" lamp and not a reading lamp. The dimmable halogen bulb releases a light that is softened and tinged with pastel colors by the shaded and colored Murano glass. The lamp is essentially composed of two modules: The first is a base in light gray overlaid with white Murano glass, decorated with thin iron gray lines. This has a conical shape and houses the halogen bulb inside. The second is a large shaded Murano glass lampshade. Its concave shape, like an upside-down hat or a serving plate; unlike normal "lampshades" which force and direct the light into a cone, this diffuses it upwards, widening its radius. A heavy black enamelled metal base stabilizes the weight of the lamp making it very stable. The style of this lamp recalls the elegant and essential 80s lamps...
