About the Item

A handsome pair of English 19th-century lead urns, now converted into table lamps and elevated on later wooden plinths. Rich in neoclassical detail, each urn features a fluted baluster form topped with a domed lid, draped with finely cast garland swags around the shoulder. The lead surfaces display a beautifully mottled gray patina, with traces of oxidation and wear that speak to their original life outdoors. Substantial in weight and presence, these sculptural forms have been sensitively adapted into functional lighting. The urns are mounted on later turned wood bases, likely added during their electrification, lending height and visual balance while preserving the original silhouette. Each has been professionally rewired for U.S. use and fitted with aged brass-tone sockets and harp holders. Perfect on a console, sideboard, or flanking a mantel, these lamps offer architectural character and a sense of historical layering—bridging garden ornament and interior decor with classical restraint. Shades not included.
