Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XV St. Marble And Ormolu Candelabra Lamps
About the Item
An extremely high quality and palatially scaled pair of French 19th century Belle Epoque Period Louis XV st. Rouge Griotte marble and Ormolu candelabras, attributed to F. Barbedienne. These exquisite four arm candelabras are raised by square bases atop an Ormolu plate and have a foliate decorated Ormolu edged socle above. The marble socle supports the urn shaped body which is decorated with a foliate patterned Ormolu mount, crossing laurel vines, and two handsome ram's heads on either side. The rams heads are joined by a scrolling crown shaped reserve with foliate designs. Above the marble body are the four Ormolu 'C' scrolled arms that are tastefully decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves with foliate candle cups that surround the mottled central fut.
