Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Marble and Ormolu Table Lamps
About the Item
A beautiful and very high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Brèche Verte d'Egypte marble and ormolu lamps. Each lamp is raised by a square base with a fine mottled border and elegant ormolu bottom fillet. The socle shaped pedestal supports display charming wrap around berried laurel bands and most decorative fluted designs. The bodies are encased with superb finely detailed ormolu foliate designs leading up each side with impressive richly chased acanthus leaf scrolled handles tied by charming swaging grape leaf and grape cluster garlands in a rich satin and burnished finish. The necks display fine fitted Entrelacs et Les Rosaces bands below elegant berried leaves. All original gilt throughout.
