Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Belle Époque Period Ormolu Lamps
About the Item
An exceptional and unique pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period ormolu six arm candelabra lamps. Each lamp is raised by elegant topie shaped feet and square tapered supports below a mottled border. At the center are impressive foliate reserves with smooth cabochons, swaging berried laurel garlands and palmettes. The striking tapered and lightly curved central futs display beautiful lattice designs with handsome paw feet and scrolled acanthus leaves at each side leading to wonderfully executed maidens amidst fruit. The scrolled arms above display striking finely detailed eagles heads and richly chased acanthus leaves leading to most elegant candle cups. The central supports display a most decorative topie shaped designs with fluted and foliate patterns. All original gilt throughout.
