Pair of French Bronze Horse Lamps With Tole Shades, After P.J. Mêne A fine pair of French bronze horse lamps, exquisitely crafted after the renowned 19th-century sculptor Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810–1879), a master of the animalier style. Mêne was celebrated for his ability to capture the grace, power, and realism of animals, particularly horses, making him one of the most influential equestrian sculptors of his time. Each lamp features a finely cast bronze horse facing right in a natural standing pose, highlighting Mêne’s signature attention to anatomical precision and movement. The sculptures rest on naturalistic oval bases, mounted on stained hardwood plinths that enhance their classical appeal.
