Pair of Italian White and Mecca Giltwood Hand Carved Lamp Bases Verona, 1980
About the Item
From Verona Italy, a pair of late 20th century hand carved mecca finish and ivory painted bases, suitable to make beautiful bedside table lamps, see the holes suitable for wiring in the back.
These Italian bases are crafted just in the front side, the back is painted in Siena yellow. They are carved and decorated with scrolls and foliate patterns just on the front as most of Italian altar decorations.
Made in late 20th century by an artisan of Verona, in Veneto region.
They are so-called porte palme, originally made to ornate altar vases, featured as palm holders in churches or private chapels.
