A Pair of Kai Ruokonen 'Finnmark' Table Lamps for the Vaakuna Hotel, Lynx, 1970s
About the Item
This pair of lamps was designed by Kai Ruokonen, originally for the Vaakuna Hotel in Helsinki in the 1970s. The same model was also used later in the Palace Hotel Helsinki. Very simple yet elegant heavy duty lamps in full brass with a beautiful patina. There is something magical about the coldness of brass and the warmth of the light filtering through the shade. All good designers seemed to recognize that in their lighting fixtures.
Signs of normal wear and use. The other lamp is stamped Lynx. Both these came from the same household in the Espoo area in Finalnd. We also have one more Kai Ruokonen table lamp by Orno which is slightly smaller in size, also on our 1stdibs pages.
