Paavo Tynell Pair of Table Lamps Model 9227 in Blue, Idman
About the Item
An exquisite example of a beautiful classic design with features that makes it suitable for a wide range of spaces especially offices, home offices or reading and working tables. Both pieces are stamped, one with 9772 and Idman, and the other Idam-Taito 9227, please refer to pictures. The reason for the Idman/Taito stamp is because Taito was sold to Idman and there was a transfer period at which time lamps were stamped by both names.
The lamps have been repainted with a beautiful and vibrant blue color that was often used in the 1950s in Finland due to the olympics of 1952 that were held in Helsinki.
This 9227 table lamp design by Tynell is well recognized and considered by many as the pivotal point at which a shift in his designs started appearing. It was one of the first designs that had perforations/slits and adjustability in the shade direction. A feature that became almost a signature in his later designs. This slotted visor reflector moves up and down to direct the light to were it is needed.
