An exquisite example of a beautiful classic design with features that makes it suitable for a wide range of spaces especially offices, home offices or reading and working tables.
This 9227 model table lamp has proven to be a customers favorite over the years, and in painted colors lately, as a contrast to the black and white versions that are more common.
The lamp has been painted recently with this red tone that was frequently used back in the 1950s.
This 9227 table lamp design by Tynell is well recognized and considered by many as the pivotal point at which a shift in his designs started appearing. It was one of the first designs that had perforations/slits and adjustability in the shade direction. A feature that became almost a signature in his later designs. This slotted visor reflector moves up and down to direct the light to were it is needed.
The item is stamped both Taito and Idman, and the model number 9227 as well.
Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York. Tynell's ability to breathe life into his work has been almost unparalleled to this day.

Paavo Tynell
Paavo Tynell, who was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1890, started his career as a tin- and blacksmith at the company Kory Oy. Simultaneously, he studied at the Helsinki University of Industrial Arts, from which he graduated as a master craftsman in 1913. In 1918, Tynell co-founded the metalwork and lighting company Oy Taito Ab. At first, the company focused mostly on interior and exterior metalwork, such as statues and railings. Later, during the 1930s, Taito also began producing lamps for the lighting sector. Both Alvar Aalto and Kaj Franck would design works for the company.
