About the Item

Supported by opalescent glass figures of a young man and lady in Victorian attire; the oil reservoirs and shaped shades in ‘peach blow’ Stourbridge glass, fitted with the patent ‘Kosmos Brenner’ wick and fuel mechanism.

Condition:
Repaired: Each item has undergone careful inspection and restoration by a conservation specialist in order to guarantee the original quality and integrity of the object. Wear consistent with age and use. The ‘Kosmos’ burner was patented in the UK in 1865, by Wilde & Wessel of Berlin. The company was taken over in 1899 by Messrs Brokleman, Jager et Cie, at which point the winder mechanisms were marked ‘Kosmos Brenner’.
