Pair of Vintage Reverse Painted Eglomise Marbled Lamps with Gilt Designs & Base

About the Item

Made in America circa 1940 this pair of lamps is crafted by blowing the glass vases and then reverse painting them on the inside. These are done in a rich marbled green / black that has been further set off by the addition of outside gilt stenciling in a classical pattern to the body, neck and base of the vases. They are then set on gilded wood bases. The mechanicals are good old parts that have new shells inserted and the lamps have new wiring. The gilding has some slight rub thru which is to be expected and the interior painted surface also has minor lifting in a few small areas but nothing distracting and this further enhances the vintage looks and appeal.

This pair of very dramatic tall cast & tole neoclassical sinumbra style lamps with frosted etched glass shades appear to be antique from the 1820s however are made circa 1930. Cast in heavy brass and tole painted they are most probably European in origin and are in excellent condition.
