Palace Size Antique Neoclassical Style Gilt Bronze Cut Crystal Column Table Lamp

About the Item

Impressive, oversize, Baccarat quality diamond cut crystal and gilt bronze Neoclassical style table lamp. 19th Century France Circular diamond cut crystal column with finely fluted gilt bronze capitol and base on an exquisite, minutely detailed cross pattern square crystal platform set on a gilt bronze acanthus leaf design border over a large entirely hand cut diamond pattern crystal square element atop a substantial gilt bronze base ornamented with a foliate border and four paw feet. The design and quality of this lamp point to it having been made by Baccarat. In the 19th century, Baccarat used paper labels to mark their pieces few of which have survived. The rich diamond cut pattern seen here was one of the Maison's favorite and the hightly detailed plinth on which the column stands is an indicator of the attention to detail consistent with Baccarat. Condition: Very Good- age appropriate patina to the guilding, minute flakes to the crystal. Wired for electricity in the 20th century for two adjustable light fittings. Height: 37.5 inches overall; 20.5 inches to the top of the column capital Base: 7.25 inches by 7.25 inches
