A fantastic rather large vintage ceramic lamp base, handmade by Thomas Anagrius for Alingsås Keramik, Sweden. This lamp base is simple in the design, with intricate patterns imbedded and it is all handmade. The patterns are simple, yet it is the colors that makes this lamp very special, a warm amber or brown base with stripes of pale moss green to a warm honey tone. This lamp is elegant and sophisticated and will make a statement in any interior setting. The price includes FREE shipping. It is 26cm (10.23") high with the lamp fitting and 9cm (3.54") in diameter and it is in a very good condition. NOTE that this lamp is newly rewired for Swedish standard (and for most parts of EU) and that the lamp shades are not included. When the company hired Mr. Anagrius and Mrs. Winblad they developed a unique style and design. The pottery became simple, sophisticated, stylish and with a very recognizable design, recognizable for good innovative mid-century modern art pottery design. The history of art pottery from Alingsås. Alingsås Keramik was started in 1947 by Halvard Oldberg and Hilding Canemark. In the beginning, enamel work was a specialty, but soon turned to pieces of design ceramics, stoneware and earthenware. They succeeded so well that for a few years they exported large quantities of their goods to the United States. The success can be attributed to some leading designers, artists and decorators included Tomas Anagrius. He had then worked with famous designer Stig Lindberg at Gustavsberg keramik. Anagrius is represented at the Swedish National Museum for Art and Design. Another designer asset was Ulla Winblad designed pottery from 1958-1967, before moving to the USA. Ulla's artistry is represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries and North America. Mid-century modern pottery Design pottery from Alingsås ceramic, from the 1960s and 70s is timeless and one can argue that it can be considered art objects.
