Rare Chinoiserie Vintage Elephant Table Lamp Mid Century

About the Item

Beautiful and striking Chinoiserie piece. Just like the symbolic meaning of elephants (Strenght, Protection and Wisdom) this piece will enhance your style. This vintage table lamp is of Japanese origin and dates from the early 1940s. The ceramic sculpture is in great condition and displays the beautiful rendering of the elephant in an array of colors. The elephant and pagoda figure are decorated with original glaze paint in greens, orange and blues in an array of shapes and forms (from paisley designs, to dots, to flower shapes). Both figures are accented in gilt giving it definition and glamour. The shade that accompanies this piece is contoured. Black on the outside but lined in gold. When lit, the piece shines with a gold splendor. The finial made of out of glass, also shimmers when lit. The handheld switch on the lamp operates on/off. The extension cord is 80” long, the elephant figure is 11” tall, 22” tall with the shade. Shade is 12.5" long and 11" in depth. Unique, elegant and unexpected. This piece complements your mid century style, or accent Hollywood Regency glamour or eclectic styles. Truly a unique piece that has transcended time to beautify your style.
