Laurel Lighting Company was one of the most prestigious makers of lamps in the mid century period! This reputation was well deserved. The firm started in the forties producing lamps for the highest end of the income spectrum.
By the fifties they kept refining their designs and became strong proponents of European modernism. Their offerings then included the finest Danish walnut, Swedish brass and had shapes that were often following nature - via the "golden mean."
The "golden mean" is a mathematical ratio that has been used by designers since the days of the Parthenon, to create beauty in both art and architecture! Laurel Lamp used the ratio to sculpt the curves in many of their lamps.
That's why a Laurel lamp is so beautiful - it literally has nature's own mathematical formula incorporated into the designs!
This Laurel lamp is an iconic example of their mid century table lamps.
Very fine vintage condition. Only age appropriate wear. Linen shade tops the 3-way socket that can provide
low, medium or bright levels of illumination! A perforated metal diffuser prevents glare. Displays beautifully!
