A Resin Lamp Shade Vintage International MCM circa 1950-60s
About the Item
This is a vintage International Midcentury Modern chrome table lamp with resin shade circa 1950s-60s. This lamp has two parts: a cylindrical shade that fits over a stemlike light attached to the steel or aluminum base. The lamp has a fitting at the top of the shade that screws into the lamp column. The shade suspends over a very small, square steel or aluminum plate that is the base.
Surmounted by a tall cylindrical resin shade of circular section with chrome finial, on a chrome harp with tubular bulbs, on a square metal (aluminum or steel) base. When turned on, the shade provides a muted but pleasing glow. It works perfectly. The on/off switch is a dimmer located on the cord. It came from an estate sale in Los Angeles. Rare find. Great pricing.

- Condition:Minor losses. The resin shade is attached with a metal knob at the top. The lamp should not be picked up by the knob at the top, but from the metal base. I believe that over time, the lamp has been picked up by the screw-in knob on the top and it has weakened.
